Case Definition of AFP,AES,Measles,NT

AFF Case Definition
     Sudden onset of weakness and floppiness in any part of the body in a child
     less than 15 years of age . OR,
     Paralysis in a person of any age in whom polio is suspected.

     This excludes adults,spastic paralysis,old cases or case with obvious causes (Trauma).
     Survillance is carried out for AFP of any cause and not only for poliomyelitis.

AES Case Definition
     Any person with acute onset of fever(38'C). AND,
     Change in mental status (confusion,disorintation,coma or seizures).

Clinical Case Definition for Suspected Measles
     Any person with fever . AND  Maculopapuler Rash .
     AND Cough,Coryza or Conjunctivitis
     OR in whom a clinician suspects measles.

Case Definition of Suspected NT
     Any neonatal death between 3 to 28 days of age in which the cause of death is unknown
     OR,
     Any neonate reported as having suffered from NT between 3 to 28 days
     of age and not investigated.
